Which was good, because the damaged country caused by opal mining all around Coober Pedy was barely visible
First stop to stretch the legs was well beyond it
The drive was the longest, at 688kms, but also the loveliest. These vidos can't really convey the beauty and the changing nature of the country. It is never boring, and this year it is particularly flush and happy following good rain
The only significant stop I made was the roadhouse at Marla.
There is a gallery supplied by two of the great APY Lands art centres, Iwantja and Mimili Maku. I have bought artwork here before, but I didn't this time
Now I'm home from home, staying in a house which has often been my base here.
There is a house there, behind all that vegetation. It's in this street
Across the road it looks right out onto the bank of the Todd River
Which is dry again. In all the time I've spent here I've never seen it flowing
It does, though. It has this year

But no sign of rain this week. And it's a bit hot...
