Left Port Augusta at 8 and was soon at this amazing junction

Perth is 2300kms from here along the Nullarbor Road, and Darwin is 2700kms along the Stuart Highway. Anyone know of a junction offering such extreme destinations?
Alice Springs, where I'm heading for, is a mere 1200kms

I only went as far as Coober Pedy today. Took me about six hours.

But what a drive. I took a lot of video, which I may edit and post at a later stage, to show how this arid country changes and is enthralling, never boring. Here's a taste
(The soundtrack is from The Age of Surveillance Capitalism - essential reading!)
Some more lovely trees, some with mistletoe

I don't know what kind of trees they are. Possibly some kind of acacia

They have a spiny leaf

A salt lake. Lake Hart

Not too hot today

Coober Pedy is famous for opals, high temperatures, and for not taking itself too seriously.

It has a nice new art centre but I don't think it's open to the public yet. And this the first time this trip I've seen these in a shop freezer. They will be everywhere from here on in

Some kind of prize, possibly, for the best guess left in the comments.
